the Bad News
"Forever" chemicals are known to be just that. So many household products add to the "cup runneth over" nature of toxicity building in our bloodstreams over time. Recent studies attribute mattresses, home furnishings, packaging and textiles (clothing) with synthetic components may have: formaldehyde, toluene, chlorofluorcarbons, brominated salts, napthalene and fiberglass. *
These toxins show in human blood, our water and food, and, of course, our homes and cars. What can be affected? Testosterone, pregnant women and fetus, children and the immunosuppressed. Disruption in the endocrine system can contribute to autism and delayed learning. Even low doses of endocrine-disrupting chemicals may be unsafe. The body’s normal endocrine functioning involves very small changes in hormone levels; however, these small changes can cause significant developmental and biological effects.*

Fiberglass.... looks kind of pretty, right? Not so much.
There have been more than 100 complaints to the Consumer Products Safety Commission from consumers experiencing sneezing, wheezing, itching and other negative health issues known to be from fiberglass particles that escaped from their mattresses. Fiberglass, glass and plastic, is used in some mattresses as flame retardant. It is cheap and currently not banned nationwide. Medical toxicologist, Kelly Johnson-arbor, MD has studied the issue and released data.
WARNING: DO NOT REMOVE MATTRESS COVER
A sufferer went to social media platforms to raise awareness to the effects of exposure to fiberglass. TikToker @heart.led (41.6K followers) posted a video in April explaining that she found out that when she took the cover off to try to clean it, there was fiberglass in her mattress. “Now there is fiberglass all over my apartment — every surface,” she says in the video which so far has been viewed 4.3 million times. She explained that she had to get rid of many of her belongings that had been contaminated with the fiberglass as a result.
That is is just one of many stories. Below is a list of some of the mattress brands known to have fiberglass in their products, which is a potential health hazard to consumers:
